New cinema release: How to Train Your Dragon in 3D

After the sensory feast that was Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, will the latest 3D offerings such as How to Train Your Dragon match up? The film is produced by the same studio that churned out Shrek and Madagascar, and the story revolves around a teenage Viking boy (of course) who was brought up to hate, fear and fight dragons until he actually befriends one. Big name voices include Gerard Butler and America Ferrera.

Box office figures so far haven’t been overwhelming, but the film has received reasonably positive responses from test audiences and reviewers. Seems like a good, if unimaginative, family film, but nothing that we haven’t seen before.
